Pacific Poker Summary

Pacific offers all of the standard games you are used to seeing in online poker rooms, Hold'em, Stud, Omaha and tournaments. The upgrades have expanded user options considerably. A redesigned lobby, customability, and 3d avatars are some of the nice perks that have been implemented. A big plus for high volume players and pros is the ability to multi-table. Combine these features with very loose games and Pacific is indeed a destination to check out.

Pacific Poker Games Available

Pacific Poker has good game variety and offers all variations of Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud and Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo. The heavy concentration on the Hold'em tables makes it an especially good site for Hold'em players. The games vary between No-Limit, Pot-Limit and Fixed-Limit. Full-table games, short-handed and heads-up tables are all available.

Pacific Poker Player Traffic

Traffic at Pacific Poker is good, but is highly concentrated to Hold'em ring games and tournaments. Most of the other traffic is in Omaha Hi-Lo and Seven-Card Stud. In all, Pacific Poker boasts decent traffic for the most popular games, with real-money cash-game traffic of 2,000 players at peak hours (April 2009).

Pacific Poker Quality of Players

Soft competition is the main reason to play at Pacific Poker. The players are fishier here than at most sites. There are a lot of calling stations and some maniacs exist. However, this may skyrocket the frustration level if your premium hands are cracked. If you can put up with their poor rake structure and customer support, you might be able to profit consistently from this site.

Pacific Poker Tournament Info

Pacific Poker is a small stakes tournament player's paradise. The tournaments are soft, frequent, and cheap. Because this site offers so few large buy-in tournaments, there are very few strong players on this network mopping up the money. Lately there have been consistent overlays in their regularly scheduled tournaments with guaranteed prize pools.

Each Sunday the site holds a $88+$8 buy-in $80,000 guaranteed event. The most popular sit-n-gos on this site are played 3-6 handed, as opposed to 9-10 like most other sites.

Pacific Poker Software

Their software is available in both Java and downloadable form. If you use a Mac, this is one of the few poker rooms you can play without getting a program like Virtual PC.

The software interface itself is decent. It used to be fairly poor, but Pacific Poker has improved it a lot lately. Now 3-D avatars enhance the visual appeal of the gameplay. The lobby was recently upgraded to feature an improved game filter and easier access to account balance information.

Historically, people have had problems getting disconnected from Pacific Poker's servers.

Pacific Poker Bonus & Promotions

A unique bonus is available to you if you click a link to Pacific from our site. 115% up to $460, and it is fairly easy to clear. 40% of the bonus is an instant bonus, so you can play with the chips immediately after depositing. You have to play a certain number of hands before being able to withdraw bonus money, just like other poker rooms with instant bonuses. This bonus tops the standard 100% up to $400 that is offered everywhere else!

Pacific does not have a lot of reload bonuses, but to be honest, bonuses are not the big draw. It's those guys capping pots with 72o! Pacific has begun testing more reload bonus offers, so keep your eye out for emails and on Pacific Poker's main site for news regarding this.

Pacific Poker has jackpots for high hands and bad beats. The bad beat jackpot is won by losing with four-of-a-kind 8s or better. The high hand jackpot pays out prizes to four-of-a-kind and straight flushes. To win the entire high hand jackpot, one would need to make a spade Royal Flush. For all jackpot promotions, winning hands must be made using both hole cards.

Pacific also gives bonus dollars for your play. For every $10 you wager, you earn one point. For every 100 points, you earn a free dollar. For lower limits, this means little. However, for higher limit players, this is a very nice feature.

Pacific Poker Customer Service

Pacific Poker offers both phone and email customer service. They do a decent job at answering basic questions, but they are pretty bad at helping out with more complicated matters. They also take a long time to answer emails. Just hope you do not have any major problems because you will not be dealing with the most knowledgeable or helpful support staff out there if you do.
